There
are few greater mood-killers than bitter, elderly people at a wedding!
"The sun is in my eyes, the music is too loud, the lights are too dim,
the buffet queue is too slow..." Some of the many typical complaints
heard from these folk at family functions.
Now do note: I have nothing against the senior generation, only against the bitter kind.
So
when I arrived at Chanel and Ashwin's wedding last night and I saw a
large elderly contingent, it required some deep-digging to find that
place where prejudices don't exist... and I'm sure you will agree that
that's a hard place to find. But every now and again those prejudices
boomerang back in your face, and that is exactly what happened to me
last night!
This particular aged posse' made it clear that they were there to do two things only:
1. To support the lovely bridal couple, and
2. To have one hell of a good time!
Well,
there you have it. Aunty Joyce, Ma' Daphne, Aunty Maureen, uncle Dennis
and the rest of the senior crew taught this boy a good lesson! My
sincere apologies to the entire elderly fraternity for my ignorant
prejudices towards them. As for the bitter ones, I'll keep digging for
patience.
Till
next time... Don't forget to smile. It's Christmas after all!
